March 25th 2013 in Briefings International Relations

The Islamic Republic of Iran has expressed its displeasure following this week’s successful resumption of diplomatic ties between the Republic of Turkey and Israel. A top Iranian commander claimed that the United States is using Israel and Turkey to “affect further resistance in the region.” Also this past week, an official ceasefire was declared by the Kurdish militant group PKK, halting a decades-old armed insurrection within Turkey. The ceasefire is sure to have a dynamic political effect on Kurdish independence efforts in Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Turkey. (March 21 – New York Times; March 23, 2013 – Press TV)
