Concerns over Bolivian support are beginning to circulate with the passing of late Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. Bolivian President Evo Morales shared a high level of support and cooperation from both President Chavez and his government while implementing a number of initiatives. Bolivia also enjoyed a multitude of funds from Venezuela for programs within the country and other international endeavours. Bolivia’s recent proposal to trade Bolivian gas for a access to the Pacific Ocean through Chile was denied due to a lack of support from neighbouring countries – an iniitiatve that Bolivians are sure the late President Chavez would’ve supported wholeheartedly. Ultimately, the Bolivian government holds that they are confident that relations between the two countries will maintain a strong relationship despite the results of the upcoming elections.
