Syria

Rebel units fighting under the umbrella of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) are reported to have achieved another strategic coup this week as they reportedly took control of the main border crossing with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. In the meantime, airstrikes were launched by regime warplanes in seven cities or regions across the country, killing at least 20 people. Allegations have also surfaced in the past few days that members of the Izzadin Kassam Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Hamas movement, are now training Syrian rebel fighters battling to oust Bashar al-Assad, a former patron and protector of exiled Hamas leaders in Damascus (April 5, 2013 Jerusalem Post; April 5, 2013 Reuters; April 6, 2013 CTV News).
