The Argentine legislature has passed a bill extending the president’s control over the Argentine judicial system. Congress approved the changes that put limits on injunctions against government policies and create three new appellant courts. This comes days after thousands of protestors flooded the streets of Argentina to challenge the proposed legislation. Meanwhile, Argentine President Cristina Fernandez and Brazilian President Dilma Rouseff have set plans to meet to discuss political and trade issues. The major concern on the table is the cancellation of Brazilian company Vale’s cancellation of a project in Argentina due to inflated costs and a change in rules.
