An Iranian opposition group known as the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), a long-time foe of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s ruling theocracy, has claimed that members of its organizations obtained information about the construction of a new secret nuclear facility northwest of Tehran. In the past, the NCRI, an umbrella organization that includes the former militant People’s Mujahideen Organization of Iran (PMOI), was responsible for revealing Iran’s uranium enrichment facility at Natanz and a heavy water facility at Arak. Meanwhile, reports suggest that the United States is preparing to seek direct talks with Iran in order to rekindle frozen negotiations over its nuclear program that have caused deep tensions between Iran and western nations that are wary of its intentions. Over the weekend, Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu warned that Iran is just 60 kilos short of reaching the required 250 kilos of enriched uranium to build a nuclear bomb, adding that Israel will not allow Iran to breach this “red line,” said to be merely a few weeks away.
