Demonstrations by backers of the deposed Egyptian leader Mohamed Morsi are moving into their third week, as tens of thousands of Muslim Brotherhood supporters rallied in Cairo and in many governorates across the Arab Republic of Egypt last week. While tensions continue to simmer following the military’s ouster of the Islamist ex-President, interim leader Adly Mansour has nevertheless issued a presidential decree forming a legal committee to amend the frozen 2012 constitution. Separately, newly appointed foreign minister Nabil Fahmy has announced that Egypt will review Morsi’s decision in June to sever diplomatic ties with Syria.
